Refunds & Cancellation Policy

Clear, fair guidelines for custom artwork

Every piece I create — whether calligraphy or portrait — is custom‑made by hand. Because each order is created specifically for you, refunds follow a simple structure based on whether work has begun. This page explains exactly when refunds are available and what happens once your artwork enters the creation stage.

Before Work Begins

Full Refund Available

You may request a full refund before work has begun.

Work is considered begun as soon as I start reviewing your materials, which includes:

  • Receiving and opening your submitted text (for calligraphy)

  • Receiving and opening your uploaded photo (for portraits)

  • Beginning layout planning or composition decisions

  • Preparing your canvas or project file

Because reviewing your materials is the first step of the creative process, submitting your text or photo means work has begun, and the order becomes non‑refundable from that point forward.

If you need to cancel, please contact me as soon as possible at support@thecalligraphersletter.com.

After Work Has Begun

No Refunds Once Materials Are Submitted

Once you have submitted your text or photo, I begin reviewing and preparing your artwork. At this stage, the order becomes non‑refundable, even if the proof has not yet been delivered.

This applies to both:

  • Calligraphy orders

  • Portrait orders

Custom artwork cannot be resold or repurposed, and the majority of the work happens early in the process.

You can learn more about the creation process here:

After Proof Delivery

Proof Stage Is Not Refundable

Once a proof has been delivered, refunds are no longer available.

At this stage, you may request:

  • Small calligraphy adjustments

  • Small portrait adjustments

Details are listed in the revisions page for each:

After Final Approval

Final Files Are Non‑Refundable

Once you approve your proof and final files are delivered:

  • The order is complete

  • No refunds are available

  • Portraits cannot be revised after approval

  • Calligraphy revisions after approval require a paid revision

This ensures clarity and protects the integrity of the finished artwork.
